According to FOX 8 in Cleveland, Biles-Thomas was indicted on six counts of murder, three counts of voluntary manslaughter, five counts of felonious assault, and one count of perjury in the shooting deaths of three men, Delvante Johnson, 19; Toshaun Banks, 21; and Devaughn Gibson, 23.
The shootings reportedly took place on December 31 around 11:30 p.m. at a New Year’s Eve party in Cleveland.
WKYC-NBC reported about the shooting at the party on January 1 of this year…
A group of men who were uninvited allegedly started firing shots after being asked to leave.
Two men—ages 19 and 22—were pronounced dead at the scene, while a third 25-year-old man died at MetroHealth Medical Center. Their identities are not known at this time. A woman was also treated and released at the hospital, while another man arrived there himself after being shot in the back of the head. His condition is currently unknown.
The suspects fled the area and no weapons were recovered.
Biles-Thomas was arrested on Thursday in Georgia by Cleveland police, where he is on active duty in the Army.
“The relentless persistence of Cleveland Police Homicide detectives helped secure an indictment in this case,” Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael C. O’Malley said in a statement. “It is through their hard work that we can begin to seek justice for these victims.”
Simone Biles has not commented on the arrest, but did post a tweet as news of her brother’s arrest surfaced Thursday night.
Biles-Thomas is being held at Liberty County Jail in Hinesville, Georgia and is currently scheduled to be arraigned on Friday, September 13 in Cleveland.
