This offseason, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are going through some major changes.

Tom Brady finally decided to call it a career after more than 2 decades in the NFL and the Bucs brought in Baker Mayfield to enter a QB competition with Kyle Trask to try and replace Brady.

It isn’t exactly one of the league’s most inspiring quarterback situations, but it seems like at least one member of the front office is feeling good about it.

Today, former head coach and current senior football analyst Bruce Arians praised the two quarterbacks battling it out for the team’s starting QB job and seemed to also take a shot at Brady in the process.

“A little fire, I think we needed a little bit of fire on offense,” Arians said via JoeBucsFan. “But you gotta go back and look at Kyle Trask [on May 23]; He had a great end of practice. So it’s a nice battle. So it’s a nice battle. You got two young guys who I think are extremely talented and they’re doing a great job.”

There was definitely something missing from the Bucs’ offense last season, but it’s hard to say that thing was a little bit of fire from Tom Brady.

Instead, the team’s offensive issues seemed to really come down to 2 unexpected issues on that side of the ball.

The offensive line became a bit of a mess after a surprising retirement and some injuries along the line.

The team’s running game also struggled in 2022.

Something tells me that when the 2023 season comes to an end for the Bucs, we won’t be talking about “a little bit of fire” from either Kyle Trask or Baker Mayfield as a reason the team’s passing game got any better..
