Bucs starting cornerback Carlton Davis is in full agreement that the Bucs defense is looking like “the worst secondary in football.” Davis didn’t hold back, admitting, “We played like dog crap.”

The critique came from Bucs Hall of Fame cornerback Ronde Barber following the game against the Texans, where rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud managed to rack up nearly 500 yards, 5 TDs, and 0 interceptions in a 39-37 win over the Bucs.

Barber didn’t hold back, saying: “To give up that many yards in a Todd Bowles defense – one that he takes a lot of pride in – is embarrassing. To me, this was an embarrassing watch. From a guy that studies a lot of Bucs film, and when I go back and watch it on film on Monday or Tuesday – whenever I can stomach this – it’s probably going to hit even harder. They look like the worst secondary in football.

When asked about Barber’s comments, Carlton Davis didn’t run away from it. He agreed, via FOX’s Greg Auman: “It would only hit home if it wasn’t true. But it’s true, right? We played like dog crap.”

Davis continued: “That’s a performance that you have a nightmare about. It’s like a nightmare come true. So anything concerning our performance negatively, probably it’s right.”

The Bucs are getting ready to face the Titans in Week 10, where they’ll face another promising rookie, Will Levis.

Levis impressed by tossing 4 touchdowns and 0 interceptions against their division rival Falcons a couple of weeks ago, so the Bucs are likely in for a tough challenge.
