MACtion bettors were going through it on Wednesday night after seeing a single play result in multiple bad beats. Buffalo backers were absolutely crushed by a late fumble on the goal line that not only allowed their opponent to cover the spread, but it also caused the score to fall under the projected total.

The Bulls faced off against MAC rival Miami (OH) this week in hopes of pulling the upset. Entering the matchup as 7.5-point underdogs, Buffalo appeared to grab a backdoor cover late in the fourth quarter.

Trailing 23-10 with just over three minutes left in the action, QB Cole Snyder found wideout Marlyn Johnson racing toward the middle of the field. Johson raced towards the goal line, stretching the ball out on what looked to be an 80-yard score.

Unfortunately, it was determined that the ball was actually fumbled prior to reaching the endzone. That loose ball eventually found its way out of the back of the endzone for a touchback.

A touchdown would’ve pushed the score to 23-16 before the extra point, enough to cover the +7.5 number. Instead, Miami (OH) took over and ran the clock.

The RedHawks won the game, 23-10.

According to Hard Rock Bet, more than 90% of the money was on Buffalo to cover. Instead of cashing in on their wagers, bettors lent the sportsbook an early holiday donation.

Making things worse for some of those Buffalo backers, the missed opportunity also caused the total to fall UNDER the set number of 37. A brutal double whammy to start the week.
