Three years ago today exactly, Cade McNamara was leading the Michigan Wolverines to their biggest win in a generation, finally getting the Ohio State monkey off their backs in a dominant 42-27 win at the Big House. Nobody could foresee just how far his career would fall since.
McNamara was beaten out by JJ McCarthy at Michigan in the early stages of the 2022 season, and then transferred to Iowa prior to the 2023 season. But, things have not gone as planned, and his stock even among Iowa fans has fallen precipitously.
McNamara wasn’t elite or anything in that 2021 season at Michigan. He completed 64% of his passes for just over 2,500 yards and 15 touchdowns against 6 interceptions. But, he did what he was asked to do in a run-heavy offense, and showed great leadership skills as well.
Ultimately, he lost out to a more talented player in JJ McCarthy. But, when he announced his transfer to Iowa to help revive a putrid offense, people thought that he could improve the Hawkeye offense from one of the nation’s worst to a solid unit.
That wasn’t the case, sadly. McNamara struggled last season before getting hurt against Penn State at the end of September. Things haven’t gone much better this year, as he’s thrown just six touchdown passes in eight starts, with five interceptions in five starts.
With his career coming to an end soon, and him not approaching anything close to legendary status, jersey retailers are doing anything they can to get rid of his jerseys. take a look at this discount.
