Angel Reese Agrees That Some Of Caitlin Clark’s Fans Are Actually Just Haters Driven By Race

Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese are already two of the best players in WNBA history even though their rookie seasons have yet to formally conclude. Both highly-touted first-year records broke multiple records in 2024 and created a very bright future for the league in its most-watched season ever.

However, the discourse took an unfortunate turn long before the WNBA Draft when people made the entire conversation about race during the 2023 national championship game between LSU and Iowa.

One side acts like Reese is a ruffian. The other side acts as though Clark is only as big of a star as she is because she is caucasian, not because she is the most entertaining women’s basketball player of all-time.

Sheryl Swoopes recently accused Clark’s fans of being “ugly and evil.” Reese also claims that some of Clark’s most unhinged fans sent “explicit photos” and death threats to her and her family.

Meanwhile, politically-charged pundits (who have never watched an entire WNBA game in their lives) love to stoke the fire by pointing fingers back and forth. It’s exhausting and everybody is tired of it.

Unfortunately, the vitriolic dialogue only increased after Clark liked an Instagram post of Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Kamala Harris. Some of her own fans turned on their favorite player because she is going to support the “wrong” candidate. Others left nasty comments on her previous posts.

The entire thing is ridiculous.

Angel Reese is of the belief that this most recent development proves a lot of people were never actually fans of Caitlin Clark in the first place. They were actually just haters all long.

She responded to the following video on TikTok with praise for its message.

Reese said that the original poster “left no crumbs,” meaning that she was absolutely correct, and shared the video to her own account. It was a direct endorsement of the message.

Regardless of your stance on this online colloquy, there does not seem to be an end in sight. That is rather unfortunate because both players are incredibly talented. They are both deserving of praise and to knock either rookie down out of pure spite takes away from their historic on-court play.
