Holy Cross and head basketball coach Maureen Magarity have the distinct honor of trying to stop Caitlin Clark in the First Round of March Madness. The No. 16-seed Crusaders will face the No. 1-seed in front of a sold-out crowd at Carver-Hawkeyes Arena on Saturday night.

Magarity’s daughter will not only be rooting for her mom!

Like many young girls around the country world, she is also a huge fan of the greatest scorer in college basketball history. Caitlin Clark is her favorite player that doesn’t wear purple.

While Magarity is excited about the opportunity of facing the reigning national runners-up, the fourth-year head coach understands that her team is playing with house money. A 16-seed has defeated a 1-seed only once since the women’s tournament expanded to 64 teams in 1994, so it is not impossible, but improbable. Especially for a program that competes in the Patriot League and lost 12 games.

Although getting paired with Iowa is like running into a buzzsaw, Magarity welcomes the opportunity to compete. She is thrilled that her players will get to experience the NCAA Tournament in such a passionate environment. She is just so glad to continue dancing after winning a game in the First Four.

Her endearing attitude is everything that makes March so special. Gratitude is at the forefront!

Holy Cross’ game plan to stop Caitlin Clark is simple.

Magarity’s daughter provided a very straightforward scouting report. The plan is to prevent her from making any shots, which seems like a great strategy!

However, while rooting for her mom to beat Clark, Magarity’s daughter will also secretly be rooting for Clark. They even stopped by the university bookstore upon arrival to Iowa City on Thursday and picked up a No. 22 shirt.

Clark’s impact on the sport is so vast that even her opponent’s coach’s daughter is her biggest fan. That’s pretty cool.

Maureen Magarity seems like an extremely kind individual and a coach for whom you would want to play for. Wouldn’t it be awesome if her daughter’s scouting report proves to be successful?!
