If Caitlin Clark chooses to turn pro, she will be selected by the Indiana Fever with the first overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft. She must make her decision by April 5.

There is a long way to go between now and then.

Clark is going to consult with the people closest to her before making an announcement either way. Most importantly, the superstar senior — who has the option to return to Iowa for a fifth season — is going to trust her gut. She will know when she knows.

Indiana won the WNBA Draft lottery last week. It would be shocking if the Fever did not pick Clark if picking Clark is an option.

They have not made the playoffs since losing in the First Round in 2016 and won no more than six games in 2020, 2021 and 2022. That streak was snapped last year with 13 wins!

Aliyah Boston, the eventual Rookie of the Year, was the catalyst. The first-year big out of South Carolina lived up to her billing.

Aliyah Boston and Caitlin Clark would be a really strong duo in the WNBA. Their games compliment each other (on paper) perfectly.

The former would be thrilled to play with the latter, but she understands it’s not yet a done deal. A return to Iowa is still very much in play.

Boston broke her silence on the possibility during a conversation with WISHTV8 earlier this week and revealed what excites her most about Clark.

How versatile she is. Her vision on the court. I think that’s super important. And I think she does a great job of that at Iowa. And so, I think it’s going to be exciting whatever she decides, whether that’s to come out or that’s to stay in. Regardless, ultimately, it’s her decision. She has to do what’s best for her. But whoever we get in the number one pick, they’re going to enjoy the Indiana Fever.

When asked whether she hopes that Indiana will draft Clark, Boston kept her cards close to her chest and gave a well-rehearsed answer.

I think whoever we add is going to be amazing.

However, her smile and smirk said it all!

Clark may choose to return to Iowa. Financially, with NIL, going pro is not that much more lucrative than staying for another year.

However, if Clark is looking for the best opportunity to play for an immediate WNBA Championship contender, the Fever makes a lot of sense. She and Boston could take a team all the way.
