QB Caleb Williams is the overwhelming favorite to be taken off the board first in the upcoming NFL Draft. That said, he’s still not ready to put all of his eggs in the Chicago Bears basket.

The passer spoke at his USC Pro Day with representatives from each of the league’s 32 teams in attendance. The Bears saw the largest contingent, bringing GM Ryan Poles, head coach Matt Eberflus, OC Shane Waldron, and even newly added WR Keenan Allen.

In fact, Williams gushed about his potential teammate after the fact while speaking with NFL Network’s Steve Wyche. Still, he wasn’t ready to guarantee he’d end up playing alongside Allen in Chicago.

In that same interview, he was heard telling Wyche that a lot can change with the draft still more than a month out.

“It’s a good question,” the passer responded when asked about the likelihood of landing in Chi-Town. “I wouldn’t say it’s my full expectation. Obviously, things can happen. Things can change throughout this time.

“I think we’re around 33 days or so until April 25th, so, a lot can change. I’m taking it day-by day.”

Still, Caleb Williams seems destined to end up with the Bears.

Chicago recently traded starting passer Justin Fields to the Steelers, opening up a job under center. That being said, most believe it’s a foregone conclusion that he’ll be taken by the Bears, who own the first pick.

Williams won’t admit it out of modesty, but it seems like a done deal!

The quarterback has said that he’d be “excited” if Chicago does draft him, noting at his Pro Day that the team has worked on “building a relationship.”

The Bears have echoed that sentiment, having nothing but positive reviews upon “doing their research” at the NFL Combine.

Day 1 of the NFL Draft kicks off on April 25th in Detroit. It shouldn’t take too long to hear Wiliams’ name called!
