Los Angeles Rams running back Cam Akers has had a strange tenure in Los Angeles since they took him in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. And, things took another turn on Sunday when he was designated as a healthy scratch for the Rams ahead of their game against the San Francisco 49ers.

It comes a week after he was the feature back for Sean McVay, but only gained 29 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries.

Jay Glazer also reported that the fourth-year Florida State product could be on the trading block.

Cam Akers responded to his inactive status with a cryptic message.

But, who is actually confused? The former five-star prospect and Mississippi high school football legend has been wildly inconsistent his entire career. He was awful for much of last year until he got red-hot at the end of the season, with three straight 100-yard games to finish the season and pay off fantasy football owners that stuck with him.

But, he was badly outplayed by Kyren Williams last week, who had 52 yards on 15 carries and two touchdowns. We aren’t privy to how he’s acting at practice and in the facility, but if they’re willing to trade him, it can’t be great.

The return for the Rams if they were to trade Cam Akers wouldn’t be great. But, at this point, they probably would like to get anything back for him that they can. He’s set to be a restricted free agent at the end of the season.
