Scottish darts star Cameron Menzies made headlines for all the wrong reasons on Monday at the 2025-26 PDC World Championship at the Alexandra Palace in London.
Menzies, the 26th-ranked player in the world, lost in the opening round, 3-2, to 20-year-old qualifier Charlie Manby, and afterwards he had an absolute meltdown for the ages.
Now, Menzies has issued a formal apology, and he may well require some stitches as well.

Cameron Menzies Busts Open Hand During PDC World Darts Championship Crash Out
After Manby closed out the match, Menzies completely lost control of his temper. He quickly began throwing uppercuts into the drinks table that is set up on the stage, cutting his hand open in the process.
The official had to tell him to leave the stage, while he eventually seemed to wave to fans in apology, realizing what he’d just done.
The outburst left Menzies with a gash on his knuckle, and his hand could be seen covered in blood as he walked off the stage.
He Issued A Sincere Apology
While Menzies sheepishly walked off the stage and seemed to notice he’d done wrong, it wasn’t until afterward that he issued a genuine apology to Manby and the fans in attendance.
“First of all, I would like to apologise for what happened. I am sorry that I reacted in the manner that I did.
“It’s not an excuse, but I have had a lot of things on my mind recently and I suppose it all just became too much at the end,” Menzies said in a statement via the BBC.
“It has not been an easy time for me with my uncle Gary passing away recently. I saw him four days before he died and he gave me a look which told me how much he thought of me.
“Had I won the game against Charlie, my second match would have been on the day of Gary’s funeral, and that hasn’t been lost on me.
“Let me say again, that’s no excuse for what I did on the stage. It was the wrong thing to do, and I don’t want it to take anything away from Charlie. He played well.
“This is not how I would like people to view me. Yes, I can get emotional at times, but not like that, and that wasn’t right.”
It marks the second year in a row Menzies has dropped out in the opening round. Meanwhile, teenage phenom Luke Litter is looking to become the first repeat champion since Gary Anderson in 2015 and 2016.
