After news broke on Tuesday that Carlos Correa and the Minnesota Twins had reached an agreement on a contract pending a physical, reports on Wednesday morning indicate that the 28-year-old All-Star has passed his medical exams and is now officially a member of the Twins (again).

It was certainly a long and winding road for Correa, who saw deals with both the Giants and Mets collapses due to concerns over his surgically repaired right leg.

Given the hesitancy of both the Giants (one of the smartest organizations in Major League Baseball) and the Mets (historically quite the opposite, but maybe this is a sign of changing times), MLB fans obviously have some questions, and jokes, about how Correa passed his physical with the Twins so easily.

It certainly is strange that two teams had such big issues with his physical that they weren’t able to come to a deal. Granted, Correa played with the Minnesota Twins last season, so they do have more familiarity with him.

The 28-year-old shortstop signed a six-year, $200 million deal with the Twins after previous agreements with the San Francisco Giants (13 years, $350 million) and New York Mets (12 years, $315 million) fell apart:

If Correa’s leg does hold up throughout the length of his contract, though, it’ll certainly wind up being a steal for the Twins as the AL Rookie of the Year (when he was with the Houston Astros) is undeniably one of the best shortstops in the game.
