Cleveland Browns assistant general manager Catherine Hickman is catching some heat for wearing a sweatshirt that read “LOS ANGELES MADE ME DO IT.” The Browns infamously traded franchise player and future Hall of Famer Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams earlier in the offseason.

Earlier this week, Catherine Hickman, the Browns’ assistant general manager, appeared at a press availability on September 2 to discuss the team’s edge rusher rotation wearing a gray sweatshirt that read “LOS ANGELES MADE ME DO IT.”

While the sweatshirt also had the questionable stylistic choice of multiple intentional rips, it was the decision to wear a shirt stating that Los Angeles made her do something in the aftermath of the Myles Garrett trade that truly had NFL fans scratching their heads.

Making the situation more awkward was the fact that Hickman was discussing the team’s plans at defensive end, which is the position that Garrett plays.

“Wearing a sweatshirt saying ‘Los Angeles Made Me Do It’ after trading away one of the best players in franchise history to Los Angeles is… a choice,” one NFL fan succinctly summarized.

“This, of course, isn’t an indictment on Hickman in her role as Browns assistant GM… but that sweatshirt was probably not the best choice for a press conference,” a second added.

“A little bit of situational awareness goes a long way. Wearing that sweater after you traded away one of, if not THE greatest player in the history of your franchise is about as tone deaf as it gets. I really don’t know how Browns fans survive,” a third concurred.

Garrett, a two-time Defensive Player of the Year and arguably the greatest player in the history of the franchise, was traded to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for pass rusher Jared Verse and multiple draft picks (2027 First Round Pick, 2028 Second Round Pick, and 2029 Third Round Pick).
