Two years ago, Jerry Jones made CeeDee Lamb one of the highest-paid wide receivers in the NFL after a loud and public contract dispute. Now, Lamb wants the exact same for Dallas Cowboys teammate George Pickens.
Pickens came to Dallas in a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers last offseason and immediately blossomed into one of the league’s top receiving threats, setting career-highs in catches with 93, yards with 1,429, and touchdowns with nine.
All the while, he shook the “diva” label that had followed him throughout his early career; the same label that was also applied to Lamb.
A number of fans wondered how Lamb would respond to Pickens’ presence, particularly when it meant fewer opportunities for himself. But as it turns out, he’s more than happy to be part of a tag team act.
CeeDee Lamb Begs Jerry Jones To Pay Up For George Pickens
Pickens is currently playing out the 2026 season on a one-year, $27.3 million deal after the Cowboys placed the franchise tag on him.
They could do the same in 2027. However, Lamb made it clear to the team that he wants Pickens around long-term.
“It’s demoralizing for the defense,” Lamb told Yahoo Sports about the one-two punch of he and Pickens regularly making plays. “They were mad, hyped and all that. You know how defensive guys be.
“But as for us man, we just got to connect, fight through the fire and air it out.”
As for his specific contract status, Lamb says it’s time for Jones to open the checkbook.
“I’m sure we can make a way,” Lamb said. “I know it’s going to be a little crazy, but I know we can make a way for this one. “Listen, this is my advocation, @ Jerry, can you please figure out a way? Let’s figure it out. I don’t care what needs to happen.
“Let’s figure it out, and it’s going to get you a couple more championships.”
That’s a major advocate on the side of Pickens and puts immediate pressure on Jones to either put up or shut up when it comes to paying for a team that can actually contend for a Super Bowl.
