Chargers players are coming forward to defend their head coach Brandon Staley.

On Thursday night, the Chargers were embarrassed by the Raiders 63-21 and fans called on Staley to be fired.

After the game, Staley made the case that he should stay on as the team’s coach for the foreseeable future.

“I know what I’ve done here for three years and I know what I put into this and I know that we’re capable of going.

“I know the type of coach that I am. I believe in myself but again this isn’t about me. This is about a group that’s hurting in there. We’ve got to get some rest and we have to get ready for Buffalo.”

Staley is now getting support from several players in the locker room.

Both Khalil Mack and Derwin James came to Staley’s defense while speaking to the media after the team’s loss to the Raiders.

Khalil Mack: “You talk about believing in a coach? Of course, we believe in him and he believes in us. There can’t be a disconnect when you love this sh*t the way that I do. We’ve got to move on.”

Derwin James: “He’s been there from the start with us and we know what we’ve been through…we believe in him.”

“There are a lot of times he [Staley] makes a great call and we just mess it up as players. It’s a business where we’re all in it together. It’s not going our way there’s no need to point one finger. We’re all in this together and I feel like as players we can be better and I’m pretty sure the coaches feel like they can be better too.”
