Jim Harbaugh became head coach of the Chargers on Tuesday, replacing Brandon Staley in Los Angeles. Fresh off a national championship win in Ann Arbor, Harbaugh will now look to continue his success at the next level.

The Chargers have been celebrating their new hire over the last 24 hours, sending out a number of social media posts to commemorate the news. One referenced the hilarious story of how Harbaugh met his wife.

“PF Chang’s is so good,” the post read accompanied by a description of how the couple began dating.

For those that don’t know, Jim Harbaugh met his second wife, Sarah, in the parking lot of a PF Chang’s. Having never seen each other before, he introduced himself in front of the establishment where she offered up her phone number.

The brazen approach isn’t shocking coming from Harbaugh, a man known for his odd yet bold personality.

He further detailed that encounter on HBO’s Real Sports With Bryant Gumbel.

“I met her at a restaurant,” he replied when asked about the meet-up. “Sarah was there getting takeout, and when I saw her leaving, I went up to her and asked if I could meet her.”

“A total stranger?” the host asked in disbelief.

“Yeah, mhmm. She said, ‘Yeah, you can meet me,’ and she gave me her phone number. I didn’t believe her at first. I thought it was one of those fake numbers.

“I called her, multiple times – nine times before she returned my call… I could tell she was a winner all the way.”

Jim and Sarah Harbaugh have now been married more than a decade, and she actually accompanied him to his second LA Chargers interview.

The new head coach now looks ahead to the future (leaving Michigan to pick up the pieces), as he begins his second stint in the NFL.

Previously, he coached in San Francisco for four seasons, taking the 49ers to a Super Bowl in 2012 before losing to his brother.

He boasts a 44-19 professional coaching record while having posted three 11+ win seasons.
