Plenty of people were introduced to LPGA golfer Charley Hull after a video of her smoking a cigarette while signing autographs went viral last month, and one spectator at the Women’s PGA Championship walked away with the ultimate souvenir courtesy of the dart she happily signed.
Charley Hull has spent the majority of her life in the spotlight. The former child golf prodigy garnered plenty of attention in her native England thanks to her stellar play at a young age, and she was just 16 years old when she turned pro in 2013.
She initially started as a member of the Ladies European Tour but was able to hold her own on the LPGA Tour before pivoting to that circuit in the mid-2010s.
While Hull has only racked up a total of six wins as a pro, the 26-year-old is routinely in contention (she finished in second at the U.S. Women’s Open and Women’s British Open in 2023) and is currently ranked as the eighth-best women’s golfer on the planet.
Anyone who keeps tabs on the LPGA is familiar with Hull, and while she garnered a fair amount of attention last year after challenging an internet troll to a match, that had nothing on the viral nature of the video we were treated to after she was filmed signing stuff for fans at the U.S. Women’s Open while puffing on the cigarette that was planted firmly in her mouth.

Now, I can’t tell you why that clip received as much attention as it did (I’m sure Sigmund Freud would’ve had plenty to say about it), but Hull—who apparently turned to cigs in an attempt to cut back on her vaping habit—has nonetheless embraced the moment that’s significantly increased her visibility thanks in no small part to the inevitable John Daly comparisons.
Hull only cemented her status as a fan favorite while competing at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship last week, as she didn’t hesitate to accommodate a fan who asked her to sign his cigarette before scrawling “CH” on the dart.

I’m sure they could find a buyer, but as far as I’m concern, that’s absolutely priceless.
