There are several reasons why NFL fans dislike the Kansas City Chiefs. And it’s not just because people get tired of seeing the same team win all the time.
There is the fact that the referees always seem to be giving the Chiefs’ breaks in game after game. There is also the consistently insufferable behavior of the Chiefs’ quarterback’s family. And then there are the owners of the Kansas City Chiefs, the Hunt family – Clark, Tavia, Gracie, Ava and Knobel.
Clark, the beneficiary of being the grandson of oil tycoon and son of a man who at one point, along with his brothers, owned one-third of the world silver market, has been running the Chiefs since his father’s passing in 2006. Since then, the Chiefs have won the AFC West eleven times and appeared in four Super Bowls, winning three. It’s been a run of success that very few pro sports teams have ever seen, especially in the NFL.
And, according to Clark’s wife Tavia, a former Miss Kansas, it’s all thanks to, not the referees, but God.
Writing on Instagram after the Chiefs won another AFC Championship game, in controversial fashion, again, Tavia Hunt said, “I’ve said it before: I don’t think God cares about football, but He cares deeply about people.
“In 2012, we were broken — winning only 2 games and facing an unimaginable tragedy. It was a humbling, desperate season, and we had nowhere to turn but to God. That brokenness brought us to total dependence on the One who holds it all. We began praying 1 Chronicles 4:10 and committing the team to the Lord.
“Shortly after, Clark hired Andy Reid, and God brought the Reids to Kansas City at just the right time.”
Very fortuitous, indeed.
Tavia continues, “By God’s grace we’ve had success, but it’s not ‘black magic’ or referee favoritism (look at the stats on this) — it’s lots of hard work, belief, and purpose. Patrick Mahomes leads with humility and puts God first. Marcellus Casey, our team chaplain, pours into players and their families through weekly Bible studies and prayer. Many of our players — Drew Tranquil, Harrison Butker, Chris Jones, Nick Bolton, Trey Smith and more — openly share their faith, lifting each other up on and off the field.”
See, God wants the Chiefs to win.
She goes on to write about “a prophecy from Bob Jones, who wrote that when the Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl it would be a sign of end time revival.”
Those poor Eagles. They really have no chance.
