People Are Angry At Chiefs Fans For Doing Tomahawk Chop On Indigenous Peoples’ Day

The Chiefs kicked off Monday Night’s game on national television with a tomahawk chop, and some people are not happy about it.

Before Monday Night’s Chiefs-Raiders game, ESPN focused on Chiefs fans doing the tomahawk chop.

People were angry with the Chiefs’ pregame tradition because today many people celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day instead of Columbus Day.

Despite some calls to change their pregame tradition, Chiefs president Mark Donovan said the Arrowhead Chop is here to stay.

“The Arrowhead Chop is part of the game-day experience that is really important to our fans,” Mark Donovan, the team president, recently told The Kansas City Star.

Here’s how fans reacted to Chiefs fans doing the cop on Indigenous Peoples’ Day

“Sports fans doing the “tomahawk chop” on Indigenous Peoples Day with zero awareness.”

“75,000 people doing the “tomahawk chop” in a stadium with “END RACISM” written on the field in 10-foot-high letters. OK”

“Someone needs to remind Kansas City football fans doing the “tomahawk chop” that it’s Indigenous Peoples Day, not Columbus Day.”

“Shoutout to the NFL for scheduling a home Chiefs game featuring the crowd doing the tomahawk chop on Indigenous Peoples’ Day. Great work, fellas. Way to think it through”
