Chris Simms Is Getting Destroyed For His Pre-Draft Take On Zach Wilson

Not even two full seasons into his NFL career and New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson is already looking like a bust.

Despite being the #2 overall in the draft in 2021, the Jets benched the inept Wilson on Thursday night in favor of former CFL quarterback Chris Streveler. This, of course, comes after the team already benched him for Mike White.

Now that it’s looking like Wilson is one of the great draft busts in recent memory, fans have begun digging up the old takes about him, such as this absolute stinker from Chris Simms, who actually said that Wilson reminded him of Patrick Mahomes. Naturally, Simms is getting absolutely cooked for the take, as evidenced by the recent replies that have been popping up below the original tweet.

Wilson, of course, is perhaps the exact opposite of Super Bowl-winning Mahomes, as it looks like the Jets are already preparing for a future without the former BYU signal caller as their starting QB. Through 22 games in the NFL, Wilson has completed just 55% of his passes for 15 touchdowns and 18 interceptions.

To close out a 2022 season that will see Gang Green extend the longest playoff drought in the four major American sports, the Jets — who are clearly desperate for Mike White to get healthy — will face off against the Seattle Seahawks and the Miami Dolphins.

As for where Wilson goes from here, it’s hard to imagine him resurrecting his career in New York, as both the fanbase and the regime that drafted him have both seemingly seen enough. Still just 23 years old, while Wilson is young enough to at least attempt to turn his career around, that will almost certainly not be with the Jets.
