The New York Jets playoff hopes are all but dead and buried following their Thursday night loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Under the lights and in front of the whole country, the Jets lost to the Jaguars by a score of 19-3 on Thursday night. The Zach Wilson-led offense was so bad, in fact, that Jets head coach Robert Saleh eventually benched him for former CFL QB Chris Streveler.

Speaking to the media after the game, Wilson — whose time as the Jets starting quarterback is certainly over — actually took responsibility for the offense’s poor play, which is something he failed to do a few weeks ago following a loss to the Patriots.

“I’ve got to look myself in the mirror, I’ve got to go back and watch this tape, and you’ve got to be hard on yourself and just say, ‘Why are we not moving the ball?’ It starts with me,” Wilson said. “I didn’t put my team in the best position there and we didn’t do anything on offense.”

“I’ve just got to put my head down and try and get better for these guys,” Wilson said. “That’s kind of my message for them. I’m trying to give it everything I’ve got. I’m trying to late it out for you guys and it’s not good enough. I’ve got to put them in a better position.” [via ProFootballTalk]

To close out a 2022 season that will almost surely see them extend the longest playoff drought in the NFL, the New York Jets will take on the Seattle Seahawks and Miami Dolphins. More important than those final two games, though, will be what the Jets decide to do with Wilson — who clearly isn’t a franchise quarterback — in the offseason,
