The drama surrounding the Philadelphia Eagles only continues to grow while the team itself struggles to find an identity on the field. C.J. Gardner-Johnson did not seem to appreciate how Darius Slay approached his ongoing beef with Micah Parsons.

There is not much room for interpretation…

This specific saga dates back to Philadelphia’s three-point win over New Orleans in Week 3. Gardner-Johnson, who played for the Saints from 2019-2021, spoke poorly of the opposing quarterback (his former teammate) in the locker room after the game.

They ain’t no contenders. They’re pretenders.

They have Derek Carr, remember that.

— C.J. Gardner Johnson

Those comments did not go over well with Parsons, who addressed the comments on his podcast last week.

I don’t know who C.J. Gardner-Johnson thinks he is bro. We’ve been dealing with this cat for a while. I think Derk Carr has validated himself way before C.J. has ever done— in the most respectful way. Derek Carr was one the highest-paid quarterback (sic). Let’s be real.

— Micah Parsons

Gardner-Johnson saw the clip and clapped right back.

Fam the league knows who I am (forget the narrative) @MicahhParsons11!!

You can check my track record and how I over came a lot! Won a lot more playoff games than you too my guy 🫡

All of the air had seemingly cleared, at least temporarily, after the initial jabs between Parsons and Gardner-Johnson. Both parties went on their way and moved on.

Or so it seemed.

Philadelphia got smacked by Tampa Bay on Sunday. Slay was subject to a lot of criticism for the loss and proceeded to melt down on social media.

To make matters worse, he joined Parsons on the most recent episode of his podcast.

That in itself probably did not go over well with Gardner-Johnson. A clip of his teammate and division rival laughing at him for the whole Carr thing most certainly did not.

C.J. Gardner-Johnson was/is hurt by Darius Slay’s conversation with Micah Parsons. He posted a cryptic but telling story on Instagram.

Enough said!

Technically speaking, Gardner-Johnson’s post could’ve been about anything— but it is pretty safe to assume that he is reacting to his teammates’ betrayal. That is pretty obvious.

Considering that he and Slay play the same position on the same team, this back-and-forth between them is going to make things awkward. The Eagles are already caught up in the headlines surrounding their head coach and locker room dynamics. This new internal drama won’t help!
