Even though CJ Stroud is on pace to be named the NFL’s rookie of the year, the Houston Texans forgot to leave the door open for him. Their star quarterback was locked out of the locker room upon arrival to NRG Stadium on Sunday morning.
NFL GameDay Morning cut to the 22-year-old as he walked through the back tunnel to join the rest of his team with more than two hours until kickoff. Stroud was moving like he had somewhere to be.
It was all business.
However, there was no way in when C.J. Stroud finally made it to the double doors outside of the locker room. They were locked.
He stared at the doors for a moment before trying to jiggle the handle without success. Another staffer came over to try and help. They were visibly perplexed.
Somebody eventually opened the door from the inside. Stroud made it inside!
Texans fans will hope that their quarterback’s unfortunate arrival is not an omen for the rest of the afternoon. Houston hosts Jacksonville at 1:00 p.m. ET.
The visitors enter the day at 7-3. The home team enters the day at 6-4.
It is a high-stakes matchup in the AFC South with major playoff implications as the end of the NFL season slowly rolls closer. Whichever team wins will sit atop the division.
Stroud is currently fourth in the league in terms of passing yards amongst quarterbacks this season. His completion percentage ranks third among active quarterbacks.
The former Ohio State signal-caller, who was drafted No. 2 overall last April, has been awesome through the first 10 games of the year. Even though CJ Stroud continues to play well and win games, the Texans failed to leave the door open for his arrival on Sunday. And, of course, it was all caught on camera!
