Clemson fans were not happy with Dabo Swinney during the college football game against North Carolina. They were quick to boo the Tigers for an underwhelming performance during the first half.
The jeers got even louder during the final possession of the second quarter and the first two possessions of the third quarter.
Regardless of the final result, the national championship college football coach continues to underwhelm in the modern era. There were multiple causes for concern on Saturday.
Clemson missed a wide-open touchdown and settled for a field goal.
The boo birds were out in the first quarter. It started with a butt fumble.

UNC, led by Bill Belichick, jumped out to a 17-3 lead with five minutes left in the first half. Clemson took over on offense.
The Tigers drove the entire length of the field. They went 88 yards on 18 plays. They walked away with only three points.
It was a clock management disasterclass. Swinney burned his final timeout with 30 seconds remaining at the 9-yard-line. A five-yard pass on first down kept the clock running. Clemson rushed to the line to spike the football.
Tait Reynolds had the Z-receiver uncovered near the sideline when he got to the line of scrimmage. He did not notice the lapse in defensive coverage. A quick audible to a pass play would’ve scored a touchdown. The true freshman quarterback did not check.

If the missed touchdown was not bad enough, the pass fell incomplete on 3rd-and-goal from the two-yard-line. Swinney decided to kick a field goal instead of going for it on 4th down. An 88-yard drive resulted in only three points. Clemson fans were not happy.

Swinney was going through it, to say the least.

UNC took a 17-6 lead into the locker room at halftime.
Boos rained down on Dabo Swinney during another three-and-out.
Clemson forced a punt to begin the second half. Just when it looked like the Tigers finally had some life, Reynolds threw an awful interception.

However, the Tar Heels fumbled on the next play! Swinney’s offense got the ball right back in the red zone. There was hope! And then there wasn’t.
Clemson went three-and-out and kicked a field goal. Fans booed, again.

Tigers fans were fed up. Even if they came back, the constant failure to execute in the red zone was exhausting. Poor clock management is unacceptable. The boos will not stop.
