Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers began the 2023 college football season with a loss to Duke, but top linebacker commit Sammy Brown is not concerned. The Georgia-native is a five-star prospect in the Class of 2023 and a top-20 recruit overall.

Brown, who plays both ways for Jefferson High School, is an absolute freak athlete. Not only is he a menace on the second level, he continues to put up big weight as a senior in high school.

Brown has a mullet that is unmatched on any level.

Although the Bulldogs made a big push for the in-state linebacker, Brown ultimately committed to Clemson and is one of the best defensive commits in program history. His final year on the high school level is off to a great start and the Dragons are 4-0.

Meanwhile, however, Brown’s future program is scrambling to right the ship. The Tigers traveled to Durham for their season-opener and entered their game against the Blue Devils as two-score favorites.

They ended up losing by 21.

As Brown took the field against 1-2 Oconee County High School on Friday, the Warriors student section tried to troll him over the Clemson loss. It hung a sign over the fence that read “shoulda gone to Duke.”

In the end, though, Brown got the last laugh. Jefferson won 44-7 and the top-ranked linebacker reaffirmed his college commitment after the game.

Georgia’s coaching staff undoubtedly called and/or texted Brown after the Tigers lost on national television to begin their season. They will continue to push.

It doesn’t seem as though their efforts will be successful. And, as Brown proved on Friday, he is not fazed by the outside noise. He scored four touchdowns on the ground and had an interception.

The opposing student section’s troll attempt failed, miserably.
