CM Punk was apparently in no mood for fans bothering him and those close to him in the lobby of the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas after his loss to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 42 on Sunday.
Video that is going viral shows CM Punk, wearing a sweatshirt with “Chicago” printed on it, angrily slapping a phone out of the hands of a male fan, who was filming WWE wrestler Bayley hugging what appeared to be Punk’s wife, fellow WWE star AJ Lee, in the lobby of the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, reportedly just after midnight.
In the footage, obtained by TMZ, security quickly steps in between Punk and the fan to keep things from escalating further. The fan quickly exited the scene, offering an apology, while Punk gave him a death stare.
“Sorry, man,” the fan is heard saying. After Punk says something to him, he changes his apology to “Sorry, Punk,” saying it twice.
“Wow. Bad day,” someone can be heard as Punk exits the hotel lobby.
CM Punk and his wife, AJ Lee, did not have great results during their matches at WrestleMania 42 this weekend. Punk lost his WWE World Heavyweight Championship to Reigns in a very violent and bloody fight. Lee lost her WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship to Becky Lynch in a match that saw Lynch cheat her way to victory.
Alleged eyewitnesses were quick to jump to CM Punk’s defense
“I was standing right there last night when it happened, fan put his arm around Punk’s wife for a selfie after she had said no… totally warranted and anyone else would do the same thing,” read one comment on X.
“That ‘fan’ was literally harassing Punk’s wife, wrapped his arm around her for a selfie after she’d said no,” another person wrote.
“Recording a dude’s wife and her best friend in what looks like the lobby of a hotel. Punk ain’t in the wrong,” someone else commented.
“Well deserved. Stop touching women without consent, stop harassing wrestlers in hotels, stop shoving a camera in their face while they’re having a private moment,” read another comment.
