A pair of women attending the Fresno State vs. San Jose State football game were injured by falling glass after a coach punched out a press box window.

The window shattered after a Bulldogs’ staffer frustratingly smacked the glass following a San Jose State score. That staff member has now been placed on administrative leave, according to team Fresno State AD Terry Tumey.

“At this point, we’re trying to figure out what’s going on with all that transpired, but I can definitely tell you that the individual that acted in that way will be placed on administrative leave, effective immediately.”

The two injured fans, a mother and daughter hoping to enjoy the team’s Homecoming festivities, were taken for treatment to a local hospital. Shards of glass could be seen in the stands following the unfortunate incident.

Pictures of the shattered press box window were posted on social media, as well as the chunks of glass that landed on the two women below. The coach that punched the window has not been named.

We’ve seen coaches in the booth overreact to plays and games that don’t go their way before. Earlier this season, we saw Buffalo Bills assistant coach Ken Dorsey absolutely lose his mind in a loss to the Dolphins. Dorsey took his frustrations out on his headset as opposed to the press box windows.

The staffer has not been named, but he’s likely to receive some sort of punishment after the investigation wraps up. Many are already calling for the coach to be fired.

On fan wrote, “Fresno State is going to have to pay a couple medical bills at the very least. This ‘staff member’ may also be heading to the unemployment office.”

Despite the tantrum, the Bulldogs would go on to win their Homecoming contest, 17-10. Unfortunately, the athletics department will now have to deal with this incident as opposed to celebrating the victory.
