Colby Covington has come up with an amazing excuse for why he lost at UFC Tampa. On Saturday night, Covington faced off against up-and-coming welterweight star Joaquin Buckley.
Unfortunately for Covington, he suffered his second straight loss when the doctor stopped the fight due to a nasty cut under his eye.

Days after the fight. Covington claims he couldn’t fully train for his fight against him because he was helping Trump on the campaign trail.
“It’s one fight, you know?” Covington said. “And I’m more than just a fighter, you know? I’m gonna let this fuel me. I’m gonna get a full training camp. [I] came on short notice. This is for the company. This is for the fans. This wasn’t a full training camp; and I was campaigning for Trump, you know, getting him ready. I wasn’t even in the training room. I came off the couch on two-and-a-half weeks notice… It’s a tough ending to go like that. I feel like I was just getting my wind and I was going to come out strong, but, you know, it is what it is.”
