Will Stone is slated to begin his third season as the kickoff specialist at the University of Texas. He has one of the biggest legs in college football and frequently boots the ball out of the end zone.

The rising junior eats a surprising amount of food to keep his strength!

Stone, an Austin-native, is listed at 6-foot-0, 195 pounds. Rosters typically inflate height and weight by a pound/inch or two, but perhaps not for the kickers. Either way, he is not a big guy when compared to many of his teammates. Even if he is on the larger side for his position.

Rated as a five-star kicker out of high school, Stone has played in all 27 games during the first two years of his college football career. His role is kickoffs. And only kickoffs.

Stone averages more than 63 yards per kick in 27 games. 41% of his kickoffs went for touchbacks.

If you don’t know anything about kickoffs, just know that those numbers are pretty good!

Although it may not seem like a college football kicker needs to work quite as hard to maintain a specific weight, Stone is constantly trying to get bigger and stronger. He never misses leg day.

In addition to the strength training, Stone is on a strict diet. Perhaps even more than you would expect from a player at his position.

Stone eats approximately 4,505 calories per day — which is only 1,500 calories less than a 300-pound offensive lineman at Ohio State. His daily food intake breaks down as follows:

  • Vitamins
  • Breakfast: 825 calories
    • Cheesy eggs with salsa
    • Hash browns
    • Cinnamon roll
    • Protein
  • Post-workout protein shake: 420 calories
  • Lunch: 930 calories
    • Chicken
    • Asparagus
    • Pasta
    • Watermelon
  • Snack: 580 calories
    • Gatorade protein bar
    • Muscle Milk protein shake
  • First dinner: 750 calories
    • Ground beef taco bowl
  • Post-practice snack: 150 calories
    • Protein balls
  • Second dinner: 850 calories
    • Two large tacos with guacamole

Will Stone also drinks a gallon of water throughout the day.

We knew that college football players are finely-tuned machines, but to see an SEC kicker eat this much in a day is pretty surprising. That’s a lot of grub!
