After failing to come to an agreement on his contract situation, the Indianapolis Colts have officially placed Jonathan Taylor on the trade block.

From the sounds of it, it’s not likely he will play a snap for Indy this season.

According to Adam Schefter, teams across the league are already “weighing whether to make an offer to the Colts and what would be fair value,” after Indianapolis gave Taylor permission to seek a trade.

This stems just days after reports suggested that Taylor would be rejoining the Colts. Instead, it appears things have gone in the opposite direction.

Jonathan Taylor has been having a back-and-forth discussion with the Colts throughout the entire offseason. Reports indicate that after having a conversation with Jim Irsay, the relationship between Taylor and the organization faltered.

He’s been attending practices, but not dressing down. Additionally, Taylor has looked disgruntled in photos of the Colts’ training camp.

But now, one of the best running backs in the league is available via trade. Jonathan Taylor is likely to want a new extension from any team that possibly trades for him.

Based on what we’ve seen for running backs in the NFL, it’ll be interesting to see if any franchise takes a shot at trading for Jonathan Taylor.

He’s a superstar-caliber player that could make any playoff-caliber team into a Super Bowl contender. But will he receive the contract extension he clearly desires?

Only time will tell. But for now, the Colts seem prepared to move on from Taylor during a time in which a stud running back would greatly benefit a young quarterback with limited experience.

Either way, plenty of attention will be on Jonathan Taylor, as trade speculation will only grow until a deal is potentially done.
