Ivy League Swimmer Goes FULL-SEND Off Diving Board To Break World Record In Electric Fashion

Columbia University Men’s Swimming and Diving is not only one of the more intelligent college athletic programs in the country, it is surprisingly lit. The Lions go crazy in the classroom, crazy in the pool, and crazy on the weekends.

To get into Columbia typically requires an SAT score of at least 1560 or an ACT of at least 35, and a 4.12 GPA. It is one of the premier institutions in the Ivy League.

The men’s swimming program had a combined GPA of 3.65 during the spring semester. They are incredibly smart.

And when they’re not in the library putting in those study hours, they’re shotgunning brewskis.

There is also the athlete portion of their “student-athlete” titles. The Lions go HAM in the weight room.

The same can be said about their time in the pool. It’s a work hard, play hard kind of thing.

Brian Lee, a sophomore from Seoul, South Korea who finished fifth in the 100-fly at the Ivy League Championships last spring, recently shared a video of his team at the end of a workout. They set out to break a world record… with a twist.

The task was simple: swim the fastest 25 meters in history.

However, rather than taking a traditional start out of the blocks, the swimmer began on the diving board.

He took four jumps on a diving board before launching himself halfway across the pool. It was an unbelievable display of athleticism.

The Columbia swimmer covered the 25-meter distance in a record-breaking 6.9 seconds. Nice!

Even though the record technically does not count, here is the electric moment in all of its glory:
