Comic-Con has become one of, if not, the largest conventions in America. Fans of television shows, anime, movies, and everything else in between love the events.

With that in mind, it sounds like a sports version of Comic-Con is seemingly on the way with the latest development regarding Fanatics and IMG.

According to Front Office Sports, “Fanatics announced an equity deal with Endeavor-owned IMG to create Fanatics Events, a new live-events business.”

Sources also claim that Fanatics is the majority owner of the new business model and, “the venture will begin with a focus on sports collectibles before broadening through ‘acquisitions, joint ventures, and new event launches.'”

Some of the things we can expect at these events are “sports merchandising trading cards, international sales, collectibles auctions, content, and sports betting,” per Front Office Sports.

I don’t know about you, but I’m already trying to find tickets for the first major event. Also, are people going to dress up as their favorite athletes at these venues?

If so, it’ll be really difficult for me to cosplay as Derrick Henry. I just need to gain like 50 pounds of muscle and grow about eight inches. Maybe a pair of short stilts might do the trick.

But either way, sports fans should be over the moon about this. Just imagine, you get tickets to the sports version of Comic-Con and you see all of the coolest memorabilia possible.

If it gets big enough, maybe sports stars from all over will attend the events too. Who knows? There is plenty of opportunities for this business model to grow.

With that said, shoutout to Fanatics and IMG for putting together a sports version of Comic-Con.
