Netflix’s Documentary About Connor Stalions Is An Epic Failure If It Doesn’t Answer One Specific Question

Connor Stalions Documentary Michigan Sign-Stealing
Netflix / FOX

Connor Stalions is finally going to address his role in the sign-stealing scandal that rocked college football right in the middle of an undefeated national championship run by the University of Michigan. He will tell his side of the story in a new documentary set to release on Netflix next month.

There is one main question that must be answered.

Stalions, a former assistant on Jim Harbaugh’s staff, was the fall guy for the Wolverines. The program painted him as a rogue agent who operated under his own devices. We will soon hear his side of the story when ‘Sign Stealer’ drops on August 27.

As the story goes, Stalions quickly became a crucial part of the program because of his ability to translate the opponent’s signals from the sideline. It kept Michigan one step ahead of the next play.

However, his supposed innate ability to decipher a play-caller’s signs actually went much deeper. Stalions created an elaborate system to scout future opponents in advance to gain an understanding of their calls. That is illegal.

While all of this information started to come out, multiple suspicious videos and images surfaced online. It is hard to say that they do not show Stalions — in disguise — on Central Michigan’s sideline for its game against Michigan State. Assuming that it was actually him, he was obviously there to scout the Spartans. He was probably trying to get information on the Wolverines’ in-state rivals.

One such video even appeared to show a recording device on the mysterious figure’s sunglasses!

The Chippewas were unable to explain who he was or why he was there. They said that Stalions would not be allowed on the sideline. They said that they did not have record of him being on the sideline.

Central Michigan even claimed to open an investigation that went absolutely nowhere.

This is where Netflix needs to step up. It is likely that the upcoming documentary will have a bias to it. Fine. Connor Stalions may choose to bend the truth to fit his narrative. Fine.

If Netflix fails to answer the question of “who was on the sideline in Kalamazoo?” — it will be an epic flop.
