Conor McGregor Slapped A Commissioner In The Face After Scuffle With Ref At Bellator 187

Conor McGregor is going to be in a shitload of trouble after today. While attending today’s Bellator 187, the current UFC lightweight champion caused quite a scene when he jumped in the cage to prematurely celebrate his training partner Charlie Ward’s win against John Redmond which led to Conor getting into a shoving match with ref Marc Goddard.

McGregor eventually left the cage, but later climbed up another side of the cage and tried to hug Ward. That’s when a commissioner inside the cage attempted to stop the UFC star from entering again, which led to McGregor slapping the commissioner in the face.

McGregor’s actions will likely lead to repercussions from the Association of Boxing Commissions (ABC).

ABC President Mike Mazzulli, who was serving in a regulatory capacity at Bellator 187, just texted me: “Mr. McGregor is not bigger than the sport of MMA!!!”

Association of Boxing Commissions president Mike Mazzulli, who was in attendance, says there will be a statement from the commission regarding the McGregor/Bellator 187 incident within 24 hours.

It’s unclear how the UFC will handle this situation. McGregor hasn’t fought in mixed martial arts in 2017 and is currently in negotiations with the organization to potentially return in December, according to recent comments by president Dana White. It’s unlikely that the UFC will want to jeopardize it’s biggest cash cow from fighting this year but at the same time they can’t allow McGregor to act like an idiot during MMA events. We’ll see wait and see
