It’s been a while since we’ve last seen Conor McGregor in the octagon as he’s nursing his ankle injury and filming the new Road House movie. However, he’s claimed he’ll be returning in 2023.
For now, it’s unclear who he’ll be fighting once he returns to the cage. Even so, it sounds like UFC star Michael Chandler has his eyes set on taking on McGregor.
According to MMA Junkie, Chandler sure seems confident that the fight will come to fruition. He’s clearly excited about the potential matchup, as both he and Conor McGregor never shy away in the cage. We don’t know exactly when McGregor will return, but Michael Chandler makes it sound like the date is set for July 2023.

That’s going to be a tough month to set the fight date for. Especially considering Conor McGregor must go through six months of testing before he can be cleared to fight again. He’d have to start in January and be cleared by June to meet Michael Chandler’s expectations.
It’s not impossible, but McGregor might want a little more time. Regardless, nothing is official yet, as this is just speculation for now. The UFC will definitely welcome back Conor McGregor, as he’s the biggest draw the organization has.
A potential brawl between these two would likely result in fireworks. Michael Chandler is arguably just as good on the mic as McGregor. So, if these two are matched up, we can only imagine what the promotional campaigns would be like.
