UFC fans are buzzing about Conor McGregor’s return to the octagon. Nothing is official yet, but rumors are the organization is setting up his next fight in 2023.

As of now, there is speculation that McGregor will take on Michael Chandler in his return. However, on Saturday night, the UFC’s cash cow shared a different idea.

According to MMA Fighting, Conor McGregor claims he wants to fight in the Middleweight division. We’ve seen him fight in featherweight, lightweight, and welterweight before. However, middleweight would be a whole new animal.

But hey, it could also prove to be a smart move. McGregor hasn’t looked great in his most recent fights. So maybe a weight class change would benefit him. On top of that, he’s looking big right now as he’s clearly bulked up during his time away from the UFC.

Of course, nothing is official for now. Conor McGregor still must undergo six months of testing clean before making his return. Additionally, the UFC still must schedule a bout for him as well.

So, between possibly moving up to middleweight or fighting Michael Chandler, there will be plenty to speculate about in the coming weeks. Chandler has said he wants to fight McGregor in July 2023. If that’s the case, then Conor McGregor needs to start testing clean in January.

With that said, keep an eye on McGregor. Based on his tweets alone, he seems legitimately interested in moving up to the middleweight division. If that’s the case, then the UFC will have a fun time pairing him up with someone.
