It sounds like the Dallas Cowboys might be making some serious changes to the running back position.

For that reason, fans think the clock is ticking for Ezekiel Elliott.

According to Ari Meirov, the Cowboys have placed the franchise tag on Tony Pollard.

After doing so, the team now is paying Elliott and Pollard over $36 million together which is over 12% of the total salary cap, per Warren Sharp.

No matter how you look at it, that’s a lot of dough! Especially for the running back position. So naturally, rumors are swirling around what the front office might do with Ezekiel Elliott.

Well, according to Matt Lombardo, rumors around the league suggest the Cowboys are going to give Elliott a “massive” pay cut.

That would suggest Dallas aims to keep Elliott Rostered for the 2023 season. Regardless, Cowboys fans believe the team is going to eventually release the star running back.

At this point, it would be a smart business decision.

Seems to be heading that way, doesn’t it?

This is a big moment for the Cowboys as they could be releasing a player who has been a star through the years. We’ll see how it plays out, but June 1 is a date to have marked on your calendar.
