Cowboys 2022 2nd Round Pick Arrested On Weapons Charges

Dallas Cowboys defensive end Sam Williams has been arrested by Frisco police on Sunday night, facing charges related to marijuana possession and unlawful carrying of a weapon.

According Star-Telegram’s Clarence Hill, Williams was taken into custody after being found in possession of a controlled substance believed to be marijuana. This charge has been classified as a low-level state felony.

Additionally, Williams is facing a misdemeanor charge for unlawfully carrying a weapon.

Williams, 24, originally entered the NFL as a 2nd round pick by the Cowboys in the 2022 Draft.

His rookie season showcased his potential, recording an impressive 4 sacks. This performance fueled high expectations for his growth and contribution to the team in the current season.

According to Hill, the Cowboys declined to comment on the arrest but are aware of it.

This was Williams second issue with police since being drafted, as Hill noted.

Williams was previously involved in a two-car accident and had an arrest warrant on him after he was driving up to 98 mph in a 55 mph zone, per the Star-Telegram.
