Indiana State Sycamores big man Robbie Avila has been dubbed ‘Cream Abdul Jabbar‘ by the Internet after a monster night against Evansville and it might be the best new nickname in sports.

In 35 minutes against Evansville on Wednesday night, Cream Abdul Jabbar (Robbie Avila) put up 35 points averaging a point a minute. He also tacked on 8 rebounds, 5 assists, and 1 steal.

Robbie was everywhere in the game and wore glasses that appeared to be the same rec specs worn by Lakers legend Kareem Abdul Jabbar. If not identical, the rec specs were close enough to earn 6’10” Robbie Avila the new nickname.

The Oak Forest, Illinois native averaging nearly 17.4 points/game on the season, his sophomore season. He is hauling in 7.1 rebounds/game but what is most impressive about the big man is he’s shooting 40% from the 3pt line and 81% from the free throw line. Cream Abdul Jabbar is lethal from deep.

On Thursday, after Robbie’s monster 35-point game, ‘Cream Abdul Jabbar’ started trending on X, formerly Twitter. Once a nickname that glorious gets released from pandora’s box there’s no putting it back in. That’s just who he is now.

‘Ball Is Life’ has previously called Robbie ‘The College Jokic.’ He’s become such a sensation people are making LEGO photoshops in his honor:

Every game for Cream Abdul Jabbar is a highlight reel at this point and he’s only a sophomore!

Robbie’s Indiana State squad are 25-5 on the season, 16-3 in conference play (1st). At this point, they have to be eyeballing a chance to play in March with the numgers they’ve been putting up.

If Robbie Avila does lead his squad to the NCAA Tournament, the sports world simply isn’t ready for a nickname as great as Cream Abdul Jabbar. He may instantly become the face of March Madness. Let’s hope it happens…
