Dak Prescott had a nightmare start to the season. Not only did his Dallas Cowboys lose to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in week one, but Prescott broke his thumb on a freak play. Not only would Prescott miss significant time, but this was a Cowboys team many thought would not be able to weather the storm of not having him under center for an extended period of time.

But, Dallas did weather the storm, as backup Cooper Rush went an exceptional 4-1 in relief, the only loss coming to the undefeated Eagles in week 6 on Sunday Night Football. And, on Sunday night, Dak Prescott clarified when he would be back in action for America’s Team.

Prescott said he plans to return to action in week 7

There was some speculation that the former Mississippi State Bulldog would be able to play in Sunday night’s loss to Philadelphia, but he was unable to.

But, after the game, he told ESPN’s Ed Werder his plans.

That provides a massive boost for Dallas. Cooper Rush filled in admirably and may have earned himself a starting gig somewhere in the league next year. But, the offense was not as explosive as it can be with him under center. Prescott should help open things up down the field, which will in turn help the running game.

The Cowboys will host the explosive offense of the Detroit Lions next Sunday.
