Buffalo Bills defender Damar Hamlin participated in a charity basketball game over the weekend, and his on-court performance made immediate headlines.

The NFL star stole the show and sealed the game with a game-winning shot on the final play. A deadly step-back move preceded that buzzer beater, creating an embarrassing moment for an unlucky defender.

Hamlin hosted the event in his hometown of Pittsburgh for his Chasing M’s Foundation. With the game tied at 117-117 late, he pulled out the heroics.

After dribbling up the floor, the defensive back turned hooper showed off his handles as he approached the three-point line.

With the final seconds ticking from the clock, Hamlin faked a drive to the rim before stopping on a dime, stepping back, and pulling up for a deep jump shot. As his defender fell to the floor, Hamlin watched his buzzer beater drop through the net.

It was a fitting end to the game which brought attention to Damar Hamlin’s Chasing M’s Foundation.

THE CHASING M’S FOUNDATION IS DEDICATED TO THE DEVELOPMENT, HEALTH, & SAFETY OF YOUTH THROUGH SPORTS, ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITIES, TRAINING, & PROGRAMMING.

Since experiencing cardiac arrest on January 2, 2023, my family and I have been blessed by good wishes, prayers, donations, and support from people around the world…

Because of what happened to me, I’m working to make sure that kids across the country have the same access to life-saving care that I did if they need it… My charity is a blessing and an unexpected life mission.

Hamlin started the charity following his scary cardiac arrest on the field during a game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Thanks to the life-saving efforts of emergency personnel, he survived the incident and was able to return to the field this past season.

Now, he’s looking to pass that gift and knowledge to others – and breaking ankles in the process!
