Damian Lillard doesn’t back down from anyone, whether that’s on the basketball court or in the studio while rapping. Remember when the Portland Trail Blazers’ All-Star point guard’s game-winner in the last year’s NBA Playoffs went viral for being so cold-blooded? Yeah, that was nothing compared to the swag that Dame showed in his new rap song, “Reign Reign Go Away” — which took aim at Shaquille O’Neal after the big man criticized Lillard’s rap game just the other day in his own diss track.
In Lillard’s new track, the Blazers’ superstar brings up some seriously old shit about Shaq, dropping lines like “New school, got new hits/Space Jam, not Blue Chips”, and goes for the most obvious burn, hinting that “Kobe won you them rings though.” It really is the most impressive rap from an athlete ever, in my personal opinion. Take a listen at the song below, which shows off Damian Lillard’s talents in front of a mic.

We already knew Damian Lillard was lethal behind the mic — just as much as he is on the hardwood — but this proves it even more. Shaq has to admit he probably takes an L on this one.
After Twitter people heard the track, they pretty much agreed that it’s Lillard who reigns supreme in this rap battle, with almost everyone on social media applauding the efforts of the current point guard. Take a look below at what people were tweeting.

We’ll see if Shaq responds in kind to Lillard, or if this is where it ends between the two. Either way, it has us talking about the NBA again in some form, so I’m all for it because this season is going to be about as nasty as some of the parting shots the Diesel and Dame take at one another in these songs. Let’s get it on!
