Dana White Claps Back At Meryl Streep For Disrespecting MMA And Calls Her An ‘Uppity 80-Year-Old Lady’

Who knew a speech at a dopey award show would elicit a response from not only the next President of the United States but also the president of a company that is worth $4.2 billion. During Sunday night’s Golden Globes, actress Meryl Streep was accepting her Cecil B. DeMille Award when instead of discussing her career, she went on a diatribe about President-elect Donald J. Trump.

Streep’s attack on DJT provoked the future POTUS into punching out a rebuttal on Twitter early Monday morning.

But not only did Streep belittle Trump, but she also disparaged mixed martial arts.

“Hollywood is crawling with outsiders and foreigners. And if we kick them all out you’ll have nothing to watch but football and mixed martial arts, which are not the arts,” Streep said.

UFC president Dana White did not appreciate the slight against his MMA athletes and fired back at the Hollywood actress.

“Of course it’s an art,” White responded. “I mean these fighters, the men and women are so talented, they train their whole lives to become the best in the world and the people who get into the UFC are the elite of the elite.”

“To say something stupid like that is like saying she’s not a talented actress, which she is. She’s a very talented actress,” the UFC president stated.

“It’s not going to be everybody’s thing and the last thing in the world I expect is an uppity, 80-year old lady to be in our demographic and love mixed martial arts,” said White who is a supporter of Trump and spoke at the Republican National Convention.

“If you really look at who follows the UFC and is into mixed martial arts, it’s everybody. I don’t expect an 80-year-old woman to be a big fan of mixed martial arts and listen, everybody’s into whatever (they’re into). I’m not a big fan of golf. It doesn’t mean people should stop watching it. If you don’t like it, change the channel.”

Streep is actually 67-years-old.

“We have fighters from all over the world,” White said about the diversity of the UFC. “World champions, men and women, we do tons of fights in foreign countries. She’s not educated about the sport and it was a completely uneducated comment.”

While White was audacious in his response, Bellator MMA President Scott Coker took a kinder approach and invited Streep to Bellator 170.

There are 10 days and seven hours until Trump’s inauguration.
