Dana White is speaking out a week after UFC fighter Bryce Mitchell made some controversial comments about Hitler. During a podcast appearance, Mitchell said that he thought Hitler was a good guy
“I honestly think that Hitler was a good guy based on my own research, not my public education indoctrination. I do really think before Hitler got on meth, he was a guy to go fishing with,” Mitchell said.
“He fought for his country. He wanted to purify it by kicking the greedy Jews out that were destroying his country and turning them all into gays,”
UFC CEO Dana White slammed Mitchell and called his comments “disgusting” but refused to suspend him.
On Monday, during an appearance on the Piers Morgan show, White explained why he didn’t suspend the UFC fighter because of his comments.
“Even thought what he (Mitchell) said makes me sick. Free speech is real and it’s real and it exists. We have to protect speech.”
What went on to say there are no limits to free speech when pressed by Morgan.
“No. I think probably the most important free speech to protect is hate speech. I mean, because when a government or a certain person can come out and determine, say, ‘this is hate speech,’ it’s a very slippery slope and it’s dangerous, in my opinion.”
