President Trump welcomed the New England Patriots to the White House this afternoon, congratulating players in attendance on the biggest comeback in Super Bowl history. Among the missing was ring leader Tom Brady, who missed the visit because he had “personal family matters” that he had to attend to (the same excuse he used back in 2015).
Also absent was Danny Amendola, the man who had 8 catches, 78 yards, a TD, and a two point conversion catch that sent the game into overtime. Trump apparently didn’t get the memo and shouted out to Amendola during the ceremony, but got the message in the form of an awkward silence.

But Amendola later thanked Trump for the shout-out on Twitter. In the now-deleted tweet he wrote:
“Thanks for the shout out @realDonaldTrump! in the GYM! Funeral service for my boy Jaimie Carrillo tonight! RIP-JC,” he tweeted.

The people who lauded Amendola for presumably not attending the White House visit out of principle were sorely disappointed, thus forcing him to delete the post. Apparently taking a pay cut for the fourth straight year to stay on a contender isn’t noble enough for these people.
Oh, Danny, sorry for your loss, but I thought you were standing on principle. 💔
