Spanish skater Danny León in front of the August 12 solar eclipse in Europe

A total solar eclipse moved across Europe yesterday covering parts of Portugal, Spain, Iceland, Greenland, and the Atlantic and Arctic Oceans. A *near* total eclipse was also seen throughout much of Europe which sent millions of people into a frenzy finding the perfect spot to see the eclipse and maybe even snap a picture.

Nobody, not a single soul, captured better footage than photographer/videographer Jose Angel Izquierdo who worked with Red Bull athlete and Spanish olympic skater Danny León on the greatest skateboarding clip ever filmed. Izquierdo captured León skating on a halfpipe with the eclipse in the background in a moment that future generations will never believe wasn’t AI because it is so stunning.

Skater Danny León Lands Trick In Front Of Solar Eclipse

I hope by now that you’ve seen pictures or footage of the action and I hope you see it a thousand more times. This is genuinely the coolest skateboarding footage ever captured and that is not hyperbole.

León can be seeing busting out a ‘stalefish’ trick with videographer Jose Angel Izquierdo filming down the hill in a forced perspective shot that makes the solar eclipse seem larger than life. Every photographer/videographer alive is seething with jealousy at how incredible this shot is:

Truly, I could watch this all day. It looks straight out of a Sci-Fi masterpiece. The fact that someone had the idea for this moment and made it a reality is absolutely beautiful.

Jose Angel Izquierdo has been building up to this shot for a long time. Here he is back in April of 2025 with Red Bull skateboarder Danny León doing prep work for the August 12th total solar eclipse. The footage from this session turned out epic but nothing compard to yesterday’s finished product.

They captured yesterday’s footage in rural Spain. Already the clip has 9 million ‘likes’ on Instagram in less than 24 hours. This could break records!

The world’s next solar eclipse will take place on February 6, 2027 and cover portions of Spain, Northern Africa, and the Middle East.
