It’s been a little over a month since Kelsey Plum announced she was divorcing Darren Waller, and the latter has seemingly addressed that development for the first time…by releasing a music video.

It’s likely we’ll eventually get some more insight into what led to Las Vegas Aces guard Kelsey Plum and New York Giants tight end Darren Waller deciding to go their separate ways around a year after they tied the knot in March of 2023 (which essentially served as the public hard launch for a relationship they’d managed to keep under wraps prior to getting hitched).

That ceremony was held less than two weeks before the Raiders shipped Waller off to the Giants in a trade that not many people saw coming, and there was speculation the suddenly long-distance marriage put a strain on their relationship based on what Plum had to say while discussing the arrangement at the end of 2023.

Plum’s thoughts on the end of their marriage have been limited to the post she shared on the day the two of them jointly filed for divorce toward the end of April, and while Waller didn’t have anything to say when the news broke, that’s now changed courtesy of the music video for a song called “Who Knew (Her Perspective)” that hit YouTube on Thursday.

It would be a major stretch to label the woman in the video a “Kelsey Plum lookalike,” but it’s pretty clear the actress is meant to be a stand-in for the WNBA star.

It would also be a stretch to suggest Waller will be winning any Grammys for the autotuned song where he laments what transpired (saying “I thought our love was real”  and asking “Why can’t you just stay?”), and while I don’t want to read too deep into things, it certainly seems like he’s clinging to the past more than Plum is.

Based on his YouTube history, this appears to be Waller’s first foray into the world of music, so I guess we’ll just have to wait and see if it ends up being his last.
