Barstool’s Dave Portnoy is speaking out after getting fired from Big Noon Kickoff.
On Friday, The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand reported that Portnoy was being permanently fired from his role on the show.
Dave Portnoy and Barstool Sports will no longer be appearing on Fox Sports’ “Big Noon Kickoff,” according to sources briefed on the decision who were not authorized to speak publicly.
Portnoy and fellow top Barstool personalities, like Dan “Big Cat” Katz have been a part of Fox’s college football program for a little more than a year.
As for the abrupt timing of the decision, those sources said there was no smoking gun other than that the constant challenge of trying to unite Fox Sports’ more traditional show with Barstool’s persona proved unsustainable.
Portnoy initially reacted to the news of his firing by blaming Ryan Day and Ohio State for getting him ousted at Fox.
Just was told @AndrewMarchand is about to release an article saying I’ve been put on ice for @BNKonFOX I havent seen the article yet and he didnt call me for a quote but i can sum it up this way
Ohio State and Ryan Day bitched and moaned to the Big 10 and threatened Fox till they had no choice. Juice wasnt worth the squeeze amd frankly I dont blame them. Huge dollars at stake and you have Cryin Ryan throwing temper tantrums amd making threats
every few days on something I said. I always knew Ryan Day was soft but holy shit even I didnt realize he was this soft 😂 #GoblueThe Barstool College Football will continue on. Maybe we’ll even see you in Columbus where contrary to popular belief most fans love the rivalry and arent pussies like Cryin Ryan

In an interview with Front Office Sports, Ryan Glasspiegel, Portnoy revealed why he believes Day got him fired by Fox.
From what I gather, Ryan Day thinks I “doxxed” him. I’ve heard that a lot from not only Fox people, but people here in Nantucket. I’m not 100% sure he knows how the internet works, and I don’t even mean that facetiously. But like during the whole Harbaugh thing [the Connor Stalions investigation], when it was back and forth in the news everDayay, there was a story at On3 that saidDay’s’s] brother was running a spy operation against Harbaugh, which by the way is hilarious.
We talked about it, and I think a) he thinks I made that story up myself—he doesn’t realize it was a huge story already within the Michigan-Ohio State world, but he seems to think I somehow doxxed him with that. That’s the thing I always hear, that it somehow went beyond just Michigan vs. Ohio State, which it never did.
I think Ryan Day lost his mind. I think Michigan kind of broke him [winning four in a row from 2021 to 2024], and I know it sounds crazy to say it but I think he lost track of reality. They tried! They tried to smooth it over.
