Deion Sanders just keeps finding himself in the news. For better or worse, the Pro Football Hall of Famer and Jackson State head coach seemingly makes waves almost every week.
Just one week ago, Sanders made headlines for getting into a confrontation with Alabama State head coach Eddie Robinson Jr. after Jackson State’s win over the Hornets. Then later in the week, Amazon announced its intention to release a four-part docuseries on Coach Prime and the Jackson State program in December.
But once he leads his team out on the field, Sanders is typically business as usual.
The Tigers are 5-0 on the season and have beaten every team they’ve faced by double digits. Jackson State looked to continue that trend on Saturday against lowly Bethune-Cookman. The Wildcats are just 1-4 this year.
Deion Sanders Stops Interview Before It Starts To Call Out JSU Report
Prior to the game, however, Sanders sat down with Jackson State Assistant Athletic Director for Broadcasting and Video Services Rob Jay to discuss the upcoming game. Except Sanders didn’t seem to appreciate the way Jay began the interview. So he stopped him in his tracks.

Sanders told Jay that he didn’t appreciate his tone and that he felt that the assistant AD wasn’t being genuine with him. Jay then said that he was trying to be professional, which didn’t seem to resonate with the coach. Instead, Jay began the interview again in a tone that Sanders felt was more appropriate.
“Much better,” Sanders said of the second attempt.
But fans weren’t too happy with how Coach Prime handled the whole situation.
Prime kind of seems like a jerk not gonna lie 😂 https://t.co/prGXPr4rYW

Though others felt that Sanders had a point, saying that Jay should be more authentic when he’s on camera.
I got my degree in broadcast journalism from Jackson State. My dream was to cover the NBA but I lost interest and never pursued TV after college because I thought I needed the fake TV voice to be successful.
Thankfully podcasts and YT changed the game and allows authenticity https://t.co/4yGSOXLZiT

Deion is making a fair point. Be who you are with me. Don’t let folks make you believe you being you doesn’t equate to being professional. This is literally what y’all be preaching on here but y’all are upset seeing it in real life being addressed?? https://t.co/Wh5lwNvjJG

I will argue this with anyone. The code switch is real. We are taught at a young age. I still have to catch myself and make sure that I am being my authentic self. Tired of the split personalities. My intelligence and professionalism can still be shown without the facade. https://t.co/Jk5tFJd3Wx

Regardless of how you see the interaction, it’s yet another week of Deion Sanders in the news for non-football news.
