Even though Deion Sanders repeatedly stated his allegiance to the University of Colorado beyond this season, there was a lot of chatter about his future in college football and a potential resignation after his sons are no longer eligible. The commitment of Julian ‘JuJu’ Lewis puts all of the speculation to bed.
Coach Prime will officially be back in Boulder next season (and longer) to lead one of the top quarterback prospects in the Class of 2025.
Lewis rated as a four-star recruit by 247 Sports and On3. ESPN rates him as a five-star and ranks him as the No. 2 player at his position. He previously ranked as the No. 1 signal-caller in the Class of 2026 before his decision to forgo his true senior season and reclassify.
At 6-foot-0, 186 pounds, Lewis is an elite distributor of the football. What he lacks in physical traits, he makes up for with a quick release and mechanics that far exceed other 17-year-olds. His ability to read coverages and pick defenses apart is what propelled him to superstar status at a very young age. That continues to be his biggest strength.
Although Lewis originally committed to USC on August 22, 2023, very few people expected him to stick with the original decision. He has since visited Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, Colorado and Indiana on multiple occasions. The Trojans knew what we all knew was coming, so they worked hard to flip five-star quarterback Husan Longstreet over the last few weeks and months.
Sure enough, the general understanding of what was going to happen is exactly what happened. Lewis decommitted from USC on Nov. 17. He committed to Colorado four days later.

Deion Sanders will lose his son and starting quarterback, Shedeur, to the NFL Draft in April. Travis Hunter Jr. is going with him.
As a result, there was a lot of unfounded speculation that Coach Prime could choose to leave. He got his son(s, if you include Hunter) into the league so there is nothing more to accomplish, right?
WRONG! Sanders has one year left to fulfill his bold promise of a national championship and Julian Lewis is on the way. The freshman quarterback will be tasked with leading Colorado to the promised land.

If Deion Sanders was still to leave at this point, it would be one of the most controversial and disheartening exits in college football history. Coach Prime is not going anywhere!
